If you attended the 2015 Minnesota Farmfest we hope you visited us at booth #836 in our Schult Modular Home. This year marked our fifth year displaying a modular home at Farmfest at Gilfillin Estates, not far from where our homes are manufactured. Schult Homes of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, is the builder of our modular and manufactured homes. Each year, we carefully select a home that we know Farmfest attendees will love. Our goal is to show people what pre-fabricated housing is all about and show the customization and options available to home buyers. We also know from experience the ease of replacing old homes and farm homes with modular homes.

Schult Timberland 5628-14 – Modular Home

The home we selected to display at 2015 Minnesota Farmfest is the Schult Timberland 5628-14. It was displayed as a modular home. Modular homes are built to IRC standards, just as site built homes are built. Modular homes are designed to be placed on a basement or crawl space foundation. The home we displayed at 2015 Minnesota Farmfest and now is on display at our location in Hutchinson, MN is a 1549 square foot home with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, den, kitchen, dining room, and spacious utility room.

From Redwood Falls to Farmfest to Hutchinson, Minnesota

Our 2015 Minnesota Farmfest display home was manufactured in Redwood Falls, MN and delivered to Gilfillan Estates for the farm show. Now that 2015 Minnesota Farmfest is over we have relocated the home to our display lot in Hutchinson, MN where people can tour the Schult Timberland 5628-14 as well as over 10 additional model homes on display. All of us at Excelsior Homes West, Inc. are so excited for our 5th year at Farmfest and to introduce you to the Schult Modular Home that we have chosen to display at the 2015 Minnesota Farmfest. Farmfest takes place at Gilfillin Estate in Redwood County, not far from Jackpot Junction Hotel & Casino. During the farm show, August 4-6, 2015, we will have a Schult Modular Home on display for attendees to walk through. Representatives from Excelsior Homes West, Inc. and Schult Homes of Redwood Falls, MN will be available to answers questions that anyone may have about the homes and services we offer.

Our manufacturer, Schult Homes, is located just a few miles away from the 2015 Minnesota Farmfest site in Redwood Falls, MN. This factory built home will show attendees the quality you will find when purchasing a Schult Home from Excelsior Homes West, Inc. The floor plan consists of approximately 1549 square feet of living space. The Schult Timberland 5628-14 will be displayed with a Master Suite, an additional bedroom, and a den. Manufactured Home Maintenance

Do you own a Manufactured Home and want to learn more about proper Manufactured Home Maintenance?

Regardless of the type of home you own, home owner maintenance is an important task that should be completed throughout the life of your home. First, a manufactured home owner should make a manufactured home maintenance list, keeping track of when maintenance items are inspected and when tasks are completed. Depending on the task, items should be checked monthly, annually, or bi-annually to extend the life of the manufactured home.

Manufactured Home Maintenance

Some manufactured home maintenance should be completed on a monthly basis. One very important item that should be included in the monthly maintenance is cleaning and/or replacing furnace filters when dirty. This will maintain the cleanliness of your home and efficiency of your furnace. Testing smoke alarms on a monthly basis is also important. Other manufactured home maintenance items should be completed on an annual or bi-annual basis. Cleaning debris off the roof is an item that should be checked annually. Bi-annually a manufactured home owner should test and change smoke and/or CO2 detector batteries. To help you get started, we compiled some ideas of what should be included on a manufactured home maintenance checklist.

Monthly Manufactured Home Maintenance

Inspect and/or change furnace filters
Run water down drains of seldom used fixtures to reduce odors and freezing
Test smoke alarms and CO2 detectors

Bi-Annual Manufactured Home Maintenance

Test smoke alarms and CO2 detectors and replace batteries
Inspect fire extinguisher and replace or recharge as needed
Inspect Roof for missing or damaged shingles
Check for plumbing leaks and clean aerators

Annual Manufactured Home Maintenance

Clean gutters and drain pipes (fall)
Check roof for ice dams and icicles (winter)
Remove window and door screens; check and patch as needed (fall)

Check for leaks from windows and doors
Check that home is level
Check for moisture inside and outside of home
Check AC unit (spring)
Inspect and clean siding and skirting

Although this is not a complete list of the manufactured home maintenance that should be completed each year, it will give home owners an idea of the responsibilities that go along with home ownership. Purchasing a home is an investment and maintaining it properly will extend the life of your manufactured home.
