In May 2016 Schult Homes proved this by successfully completing their ISO audit to become ISO 14001 certified. This certification means they are a “Green” home builder and are committed to cleaning up the environment. During the audit, their commitment to recycling and waste reduction as well as their improvement in dust control was apparent.
Becoming ISO 14001 certified was an 18-month journey that involved creating an Environmental Management System. This system addressed the ways they impact the environment for their team members and their neighbors in the community.
Objectives and goals set during ISO process:
- Reduce fugitive dust generation by 10%
- Decrease general refuse by 10%
- Increase dust recycling by 10%
- Increase recycling waste by 10%
- Reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions by 5%
- Decrease aerosol can generation by 5%
- Reduce water consumption by 5%
- Decrease national gas consumption by 5%
- Reduce electrical energy consumption by 10%
